At the beginning of November in the town of Punta de Piedra in Turbo, Urabá Antioquia, the Shrimp Festival (Festival Del Camarón) is celebrated with which the community of this coastal town pays tribute to this emblematic product of local gastronomy.
 

Banana Festival

In August, the Piedrecitas village in the municipality of Turbo, Urabá, Antioquia, celebrates its traditional Banana Festival (Festival del Plátano), a festival that pays tribute to this typical product of the region, the basis of the local economy and gastronomy.
 
The festival includes gastronomic samples with different preparations based on plantains and bananas such as patacones, banana fritters or traditional fried slices.

A banana bunch competition is also held in which local producers showcase the best of their harvests. 

Corralejas

In April the municipality of San Pedro de Urabá celebrates its popular "corralejas", an emblematic festival of the town that is highly anticipated by its inhabitants.
 
For five days, bulls from local ranches and other municipalities in the region jump into the ring in the traditional improvised plaza, where they face different manteros and people who spontaneously dare to jump into the ring. 
 

Coconut Festival

In mid-January, the Coconut Festival (Fiestas del Coco) is celebrated in Necoclí, a tribute by the people of Necoclí to this fundamental product in local gastronomy and crafts.
 
For five days the town is the scene of a wide range of activities that include gastronomic fairs and contests for the best product made with coconut, the popular corralejas, dance competitions and fairs in which small local artisans and entrepreneurs can exhibit and sell their products.

National Bullerengue Festival

Since Thursday of the second week of October, the National "Bullerengue" Festival (Festival Nacional del Bullerengue) has been held in the town of Necoclí (Urabá Antioquia), a celebration similar to those that also take place in other municipalities on the Colombian Atlantic coast such as María La Baja (Bolívar) and Puerto Escondido (Córdoba).
 

Feast of the Virgin of Carmen

On July 16, the municipality of Mutatá in Urabá, Antioquia, celebrates the Festival of the Virgin of Carmen (Fiesta de la Virgen Del Carmen), the patron saint of the town and the drivers' union.

The preparations for this festivity begin more than a week before, precisely on the 7th of the month, when the novena to this devotion to the Virgin Mary begins, which is prayed daily until the 15th.

Afro Colombian Day

Every May 21, Afro-Colombian Day (Día de la Afro Colombianidad) is celebrated in Murindó, a date on which Colombia commemorates the abolition of slavery and celebrates Afro-Colombian heritage in culture.
 
One of the central aspects of Afro-Colombian Day is the cultural programming, which includes traditional music and dance performances. Rhythms such as the currulao and the marimba, which are fundamental in Afro-Colombian culture, fill the streets with their vibrant energy.

Religious Festival of Candelaria

At the beginning of February in the district of Campo Alegre, municipality of Murindó, the patron saint festivities of the Virgen de la Candelaria (Fiesta Religiosa de La Candelaria) are celebrated, whose festival is commemorated on the 2nd of the month according to the liturgical calendar.
 
The event extends over several days and includes a series of cultural and recreational activities such as sporting events, mainly micro-soccer blitz tournaments, traditional games, shawms, and cultural displays of dance and folk music. 

Festival In Honor Of The Holy Innocents

At the end of the year in Murindó the traditional Catholic festival of the Holy Innocents is celebrated, commemorated according to the liturgical calendar on December 28, also known in Murindó as the “Day of the Matachines”. The matachines are an ancestral tradition of the town. 

According to legend, there was a man in Murindó who hid in the banana plantations, camouflaging himself with the leaves of this plant, which caused panic among the farmers.
