The Medellín International Poetry Festival (Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín), held each July, is one of the most prestigious literary events in the world. Founded in 1991, the festival has brought together poets from different latitudes, consolidating itself as a space for intercultural encounter and dialogue through poetry.
 
During the festival, the city becomes a poetic scene with readings in parks, squares, theaters and libraries, allowing poetry to reach every corner of Medellín.

In September, the MedeJazz festival is held in Medellín, an event that has been held uninterruptedly since 1997 when a group of jazz musicians organized an event at the small Matacandelas theater in the center of the city, with such a good reception that it took decision to repeat it the following year at the Little Theatre, giving rise to the festival.
 

In June, "the city of eternal spring" becomes the tango capital with the Medellín International Tango Festival (Festival Internacional de Tango de Medellín), an event that has been held in the capital of Antioquia since 2007 to celebrate the connection that the city has with this typical musical genre of the Río de la Plata, a connection that began to strengthen in the 1930s after the plane crash at the Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín in which the tango icon, Carlos Gardel, died.
 

Every August within the framework of the Flower Fair, the now iconic Antique Car Parade (Desfile de Carros Antiguos) is held in Medellín, an event that already has more than 20 years of tradition and that brings together thousands of people in the streets of the capital of Antioquia.
 
The tour covers several main streets and avenues of Medellín, transforming them into a rolling open-air museum.

The cars represent a varied catalog of makes and models, including everything from elegant luxury cars to robust utility vehicles.

In June, Expobelleza, the largest cosmetics and beauty fair in the country, takes place at the Plaza Mayor Convention Center in Medellín, which annually brings together hundreds of brands and enthusiasts from the beauty sector, offering a comprehensive platform for exchange. of knowledge, trends and products.
 

"Expoartesano" takes place in the middle of the year in Medellín.

Organized by Plaza Mayor and Artesanías de Colombia, this event brings together artisans from all regions of the country, providing a platform to showcase their talent and market their products.
 
 The fair offers a vast range of artisan products that include textiles, ceramics, jewelry, furniture, and decorative pieces, each with a unique touch that reflects the cultural identity and traditions of indigenous, Afro-Colombian, and peasant communities.

In Girardota, a town in the Aburrá Valley just 25 kilometers from Medellín, the Dance and "Sainete" Festivals (Fiestas de la Danza y El Sainete) are held annually, with which Girardotans pay tribute to this form of popular street theater that has been the department's intangible cultural heritage since 2017. 
 

At the end of August, the municipality of Envigado pays a colorful tribute to its own traditions during the Culture Week and "Carriel" Festivals (Semana Cultural y Fiestas del Carriel). 

The celebration was born in the middle of the 20th century at the initiative of the Envigade intellectual Hernando Garcés Uribe who in 1946 proposed the idea of ​​celebrating a festival in the town in homage to the characteristic Antioquia carriel, in the image of the Corn Festival that was celebrated in Sonsón. 

Since 1997, at the initiative of Cortiple guided by the tiplist master José Luis Martínez Vesga, the National "Tiple" Meeting (Fiestas Del Maíz) has been held annually in Envigado, a musical festival that seeks to honor and disseminate this native instrument, declared Cultural and artistic Heritage. of the Nation in 2005.
 

The small township of San Vicente del Congo in the municipality of Turbo celebrates its Corn Festivals (Fiestas Del Maíz) every year, an event that has been held since the early 2000s.
 
The main event of the festivities is the Queen of Corn in which several candidates representing the different villages, neighborhoods and townships of Turbo compete for the crown, exhibiting not only their beauty but also their friendliness and their knowledge of the local culture.
