On July 25 in Arauquita, "Llanero" Day (Día del Llanero) is celebrated, a departmental festival that pays tribute to the culture of the eastern Colombian plains.

The joropo is the main protagonist of the festival. The competitions include both instrumental performance, with harp, cuatro and maracas, as well as singing and dancing. Patron Saint Festivities of Arauquita

In August the municipality of Arauquita, on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, celebrates its anniversary, commemorating the foundation made by Jesuit missionaries led by the priest Bernabé González of the hamlet originally called San Lorenzo in 1675, because it was founded on the day of the feast of this saint from the 3rd century.

In September, the "Porro" Musical Festival (Festival del Porro) takes place in Medellín, one of the main festivals dedicated to this party musical genre characteristic of the Colombian Caribbean coast.
 
The festival was born in 1993 in the Santa Rosa de Lima neighborhood in Comuna 13 of Medellín, a sector that continues to be the main stage.
