Popular Music Festival "El Caballero Gaucho"

In August the municipality of La Virginia, about 35 kilometers from Pereira, pays tribute to Luis Ramírez Saldarriaga with the El Caballero Gaucho Popular Music Festival ( Festival de Música Popular el Caballero Gaucho).

This famous musician and composer, considered the patriarch of Colombian popular music, was born in Pereira in 1917 but settled in La Virginia for many years, which is why he is considered a son of this municipality.
 

Regional Dance Competition for Couple Queen "Pasillo and Tradition"

Every August, the Regional Dance Competition for Couple Queen "Pasillo and Tradition" (Concurso Regional Pareja Reina del Pasillo y Tradición)is held in La Celia, a municipality in Risaralda located about 67 kilometers from Pereira. This event was founded in 2014 as a departmental festival and became a regional event in 2021.

The competition brings together dance couples from different municipalities in the departments of Risaralda, Caldas, and Quindío. Participants perform choreographies filled with elegance and precision, accompanied by the traditional "pasillo" music.

Harvest Festivals

In August, Pereira residents commemorate the anniversary of their city, founded on the 30th of the month in 1863, with the traditional Harvest Festival (Fiestas de la Cosecha). 

This festival, made official in 1920 but whose origins date back to the old livestock fairs that were held in the 19th century, has become one of the most important events in the festive calendar of the capital of Risaralda.
 

Las Araucarias Festival

In October in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Cabal the Araucaria Festival (Fiesta de Las Araucarias) is celebrated, a traditional festival named in honor of this emblematic tree of this town of Risaralda and which is celebrated around the anniversary of the founding of the municipality, which is commemorated the 13th of the month.
 
Among the varied program of the festivities, the Santarrosaneidad parade stands out, a lively parade in which the town's inhabitants walk the streets to the rhythm of traditional music, wearing the typical peasant costumes of the region. 

Friendship Festival

In November, the municipality of Marseille in Risaralda, located just 30 kilometers from Pereira, celebrates its emblematic Friendship Festival (Fiesta de la Amistad), a festival that already has more than half a century of tradition, having been formalized in 1972.
 
One of the most anticipated moments within the varied program of the festivities is the Homeland Parade, in which the educational institutions and organizations of the municipality participate, with typical costumes, music and folk dances that highlight aspects of the local identity. 

National Coffee Festival

Since the 1960s, Calarcá has celebrated the National Coffee Festival (Fiesta Nacional del Café), where, in addition to honoring the town’s and region's typical product, the people of Calarcá celebrate the anniversary of their town, founded on June 29, 1886.

Camino Del Quindío Festival

Cuyabra Festivals

In mid-October, Armenia celebrates its traditional *Fiestas Cuyabras* in commemoration of the city’s anniversary, founded by Jesús María Ocampo and a group of Antioquian settlers on the 14th of the month in 1889.

The "Fiestas Cuyabras" (Cuyabra Festivals), named after the term used for the inhabitants of Armenia, pay tribute to the city’s culture and have become one of the most anticipated events on the festive calendar of the Quindío capital.
