In June, on a biennial basis, the municipality of Manzanares in the Alto Oriente of Caldas celebrates its "Fiestas de la Cordialidad", a festival born in 1961 that has become one of the main events in the municipality's festive calendar.

Horticulture Fair

In the middle of the year, the municipality of Villamaría, very close to Manizales from which it is separated by the Chinchiná River, celebrates the Horticulture Fair with which the town's inhabitants pay tribute to their agricultural tradition.
 
The peasant culture of the region is celebrated with arriería inns, peasant markets for local producers to display and sell their products, tejo tournaments and the traditional mountain sancocho. 

Carnival of the River and the Sun

In the middle of the year, the town of La Dorada in Magdalena Caldense celebrates its traditional Carnival of the River and the Sun (Carnaval del Río y el Sol), a festival with which the "Doradans" pay tribute to two key elements in the life of the municipality: the majestic Magdalena River, which runs through the region. , and the warm climate that characterizes this area. 

The Rio Grande is the scene of activities such as artisanal fishermen's competitions and nautical parades.
 

Chinchiná's birthday

At the beginning of April the municipality of Chinchiná celebrates its birthday. With a great festival, the "Chichinenses" commemorate the founding of this town by Antioquia settlers within the framework of the migratory movement called Antioquia Colonization, in the mid-19th century.
 

Grade A Equine Show

In March Manizales celebrates its horseback riding tradition with the Grade A Equine Exhibition (Exposición Equina Grado A) organized by the Caldense Association of Horsemen, Asdecaldas, an event with more than six decades of history that is already an integral part of the city's calendar.
 
During the event, which takes place at the Expoferias, competitions and judging are held in the traditional categories of trocha, trot and gallop, rewarding specimens in different age ranges, as well as donkeys and mules. 

Colombo Jazz Festival

In mid-June, the Colombo Jazz Festival is held in Manizales, a musical event organized by the city's Colombo American Center and the Network of Colombo American Centers, with the support of the United States Embassy. 

The festival, which was born in 2010 to fill the void left by the defunct Manizales International Jazz Festival, aims to promote jazz as a form of artistic and cultural expression, while promoting cultural exchange between Colombia and the United States.
 

Manizales International Theater Festival

Since 1968, the Manizales International Theater Festival -FITM -(Festival Internacional de Teatro De Manizales) has been held in the capital of the department of Caldas, considered the oldest performing festival in Latin America, a vital space for theatrical expression, which attracts theater companies from all over the world, mainly of the Spanish-speaking sphere.
 
For a week, the streets, squares and theaters of Manizales are transformed into vibrant stages where contemporary, classic, experimental and street theater plays are presented. 

Riosucio Carnival

In January of every odd-numbered year, the Riosucio Carnival or Devil's Carnival is celebrated in Riosucio, Caldas, one of the most emblematic festivals in the entire country, which attracts thousands of visitors, both national and foreign, and is Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
 
The carnival consists of three main stages. It began to take shape in July of the previous year with the Preparation stage, made up of the installation of the Carnival Republic and The Decrees, two satirical events that took place in July and August respectively. 

Fairs and Festivals in Honor of the Virgin of Amparo

At the turn of the year in the municipality of Chinavita, fairs and festivals are held in honor of the Virgen del Amparo, patron saint since the beginning of the 19th century. 

The festivals are celebrated in commemoration of a miracle that, according to tradition, occurred on January 1, 1824 when a deteriorated painting of the Virgin of Amparo suddenly appeared restored in the parish church of Chinavita.
 

National Ball Festival

With beautiful colonial architecture and located more than 2,900 meters above sea level, Monguí is famous for its hand-sewn balls, a tradition that dates back to the 1930s when Florián Ladino set up the first workshop dedicated to their manufacture. To honor this product, which has become a hallmark of the municipality, the National Ball Festival (Festival Nacional del Balón) is celebrated every year in October.
