Since the 1960s, the Katías Festivals (Fiestas Katías) have been celebrated in November in the municipality of Andes, a celebration with which the Andeans pay tribute to the history and culture of their people, taking their name from the indigenous Katíos, a warrior people led by the mythical chief. Nutibara who bravely resisted Spanish domination before his extermination.

The festival includes a varied cultural and recreational program.

One of the highlights is the traditional costume parade, where participants wear indigenous attire and perform folk dances and music, rescuing and showing the Katía heritage.
In addition, there are exhibitions of crafts and typical products made by local artisans.

The traditional chivas or ladder buses, intangible heritage of the municipality, also have their space within the festivities with an imposing parade with colorful vehicles from all over the country, beautifully painted and decorated.

Sports competitions and traditional games are also part of the festivities, encouraging the participation of the entire community.

Local gastronomy is another attraction, with fairs where you can taste typical dishes from the region, such as sancocho and tray paisa.

The Katías Festivals (Fiestas Katías) in Andes not only celebrate indigenous culture and traditions, but also strengthen community ties and promote the recognition and conservation of the cultural identity of the region, consolidating itself as a beloved and expected tradition every year in the southwest of Antioch.
