In December, Vista Hermosa, a municipality located about 150 kilometers from Villavicencio, celebrates the values and identity of the Colombian eastern plains region with the "Llanero" Renaissance Festival (Festival del Renacimiento Llanero), one of the most important events on the town's festive calendar.
The festival offers a wide range of activities, including folkloric parades where participants wear traditional costumes, and dance troupes that showcase the history and evolution of the municipality.
Local music performances, featuring harp, "cuatro", and maracas, are a highlight of the event, allowing local and national artists to perform "joropo" and other traditional melodies that celebrate local identity.
The beauty pageant is one of the most anticipated moments of the festival, bringing together contestants from different parts of the region to showcase their beauty, skill in "joropo" dance, and knowledge of regional culture.
The festival also includes horseback rides and the essential bull tailing afternoons, an iconic sport of the region.
Performances by nationally renowned guest artists complete the festive atmosphere that fills Vista Hermosa during this time. The Llanero Renaissance Festival (Festival del Renacimiento Llanero) is more than just a festivity; it is a symbol of pride and identity, helping to keep the region's traditions alive and pass them on to new generations.
