In December, the Zambrano Folkloric and Cultural Festival (Festival Folclórico y Cultural de Zambrano) takes place, an event that seeks to safeguard and celebrate the culture of the municipality and the Montes de María region.
One of the main events of the festival is the “little bird dance” contest, an emblematic tradition of Zambrano in which couples dance to the rhythm of drums, representing the courtship movements of birds.
In addition to the contest, workshops on the bird dance are held, with the aim of transmitting this tradition to new generations, keeping alive the ancestral customs of the town.
The festival program includes folkloric parades, unpublished song contests and a literary cocktail that seeks to encourage the cultivation of letters among the inhabitants of the region and reward the best works in categories such as short stories, poetry, tenths and theater.
The festival is complemented by craft exhibitions, traditional dance workshops and gastronomic fairs, where attendees can enjoy typical dishes from the region. Recreational activities, such as sports competitions and popular games, are also part of the program, encouraging community participation.
The Zambrano Folkloric and Cultural Festival (Festival Folclórico y Cultural de Zambrano) not only celebrates the identity and traditions of the municipality, but also promotes tourism and the local economy, consolidating itself as an event of great cultural and social importance in the region.
