In early December, the municipality of La Uribe celebrates the Peace and Brotherhood Festival (Festival de la Paz y La Confraternidad), one of the most anticipated events on the festive calendar of the eastern foothills in Met
The festival was established in the early 21st century as an effort to establish La Uribe as a territory of peace following the episodes of violence experienced in the municipality in the late 1990s during the internal armed conflict.
A highlight of the festival’s diverse program is the Day of Rural Dignity, an event dedicated to honoring the town’s farmers, which includes a lunch, the presentation of awards, and performances by rural music groups.
The festival also features afternoons dedicated to typical plains sports such as bull tailing and traditional roping, as well as horseback rides, soccer tournaments, and "joropera" dance performances. Live music from local artists and special guests completes the program.
The Peace and Brotherhood Festival (Festival de la Paz y La Confraternidad) is a celebration of hope that honors unity, collaboration, and peace in a region that has undergone significant social transformation.
