Located in the plains of Bajo Cauca, Antioquia, Caucasia is renowned as a prime cattle-raising region, with livestock farming being the main economic activity of the municipality. This is why the town annually hosts the Bajo Cauca Industrial Agro-Livestock Fair, typically held mid-year, which returned in 2024 after a two-year hiatus.

The fair brings together large and small cattle ranchers and horse and livestock enthusiasts to participate in and enjoy various contests and exhibitions. Some of the main events include the display of zebu cattle, the predominant bovine species in the country; the equine festival featuring categories such as trocha and gallop, trot and gallop, and paso fino; and the cattle auction, showcasing over 30 high-quality cattle specimens.

The fair also includes forums aimed at farmers, covering diverse topics such as neonatal care, buffalo care and breeding, milk production, and institutional coordination for the advancement of livestock farming. These educational events are essential for the development and modernization of the livestock sector in the region.

The Bajo Cauca Industrial Agro-Livestock Fair boosts the economic development of Caucasia and strengthens community ties among ranchers in the northern region of the country. It is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of local farmers and a showcase of the region’s agricultural potential.
