In March Ibagué pays tribute to its nickname of “Musical Capital of Colombia” with the National Festival of Colombian Music (Festival Nacional de la Música Colombiana), an event that already has more than 35 editions and that pays tribute to the most representative musical genres of Colombia, such as bambuco, pasillo, the guabina and torbellino, an essential part of the country's cultural heritage.

One of the central events of the festival is the prestigious "Princes of Song" National Duet Competition, where duets from different regions compete performing traditional Colombian songs. The "Leonor Buenaventura" National Composition Competition is also held, which seeks to encourage the creation of new works that continue to enrich the national folkloric repertoire.

In addition to the competitions, the festival offers a varied cultural program with concerts, recitals and presentations on different stages in the city, with the participation of local and national artists. Workshops and educational activities are also carried out to promote music among new generations.

The National Colombian Music Festival (Festival Nacional de la Música Colombiana) is a meeting point for lovers of traditional music and a space that strengthens the country's cultural identity, consolidating the prestige of Ibagué as a musical city.
