In July the municipality of San Miguel in Putumayo celebrates its River Festival (Festival Internacional del Río), with which its inhabitants pay tribute to the San Miguel River, which in that section serves as a natural border with Ecuador.
The aquatic competitions are some of the most anticipated events of the festival.
