At the beginning of July, the municipality of Orito holds its anniversary festivities (Fiesta Aniversario de Orito), a celebration with which the inhabitants celebrate the municipal life of this town, founded in 1963 as a product of the oil exploitation activities carried out by the Texas Petroleum Company and elevated to the category of municipality in 1979.
 
The varied festival program includes cultural, sports and recreational activities.

One of the central events of these festivals is the parade in which dance groups, educational institutions and social organizations participate, wearing colorful costumes and costumes that pay tribute to the Orense culture and the biodiversity of the region. 

Within the framework of the festivities, the Departmental Dance Contest (Encuentro Departamental de Danzas) has also been held for more than a decade, which brings together delegations from various municipalities of Putumayo to celebrate the department's dance tradition. 
 
During the holidays, peasant markets, soccer and athletics tournaments, and concerts with local and national artists are also held, attracting both residents and tourists.
