In June in Ipiales the celebration of Inti Raymi (Fiestas Tradicionales Inti Raymi ) takes place, a centenary festival of Quechua origin that was traditionally held on the occasion of the southern winter solstice, around June 21. Currently, Inti Raymi is carried out mainly as a tourist attraction in different cities in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

In Ipiales, the Inti Raymi annually brings together more than 7,000 people, mainly from the various indigenous reservations in the region, who come to honor the tradition of their ancestors, thanking the sun and the earth for the harvest and welcoming the new Andean year.

Rituals include offerings of food, flowers and agricultural products, as thanks for the harvests and to ask for prosperity in the coming cycle. These ceremonies, led by indigenous leaders, are loaded with symbolism and spirituality.

In addition to rituals, Inti Raymi in Ipiales is complemented by cultural activities, such as traditional dances, folk music and parades. Colorful costumes and native instruments are the protagonists, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrates the connection between man and nature.

The Inti Raymi in Ipiales is an event that promotes the preservation of ancestral traditions, strengthening the cultural identity of indigenous peoples and attracting visitors who want to learn about this ancient heritage.
