In September in the municipality of Olaya Herrera, on the Pacific coast of Nariño, the patron saint festivities are celebrated in honor of the Lord of Mercy (Fiestas Patronales del Señor de La Misericordia), one of the most important events in the town's festive and religious calendar.

The festivities begin with novenas and solemn masses in his honor, highlighting the traditional procession, where parishioners carry the image of the Lord of Mercy through the main streets of the town. This tour is carried out in an atmosphere of deep devotion, with songs and prayers asking for protection and blessings for the community.

The procession along the river is also a tradition during these festivals. The image of the patron saint is transported in canoes along the Patía River, while the community accompanies from the shore.

In addition to religious events, the festivals include a variety of cultural and recreational events.

These include presentations by folk groups, traditional music concerts, and sports activities. The Patron Saint Festival of the Lord of Mercy (Fiestas Patronales del Señor de La Misericordia) in Olaya Herrera not only reinforces the sense of community and faith, but is also an opportunity to highlight the cultural traditions and folklore of southwestern Colombia.
