In February 2024, the first edition of the Río Guatiquía Summer Festival (Festival de Verano Río Guatiquia) was held in Villavicencio, a festival that seeks to position itself as one of the main events of this category in the eastern Colombian plains.
The Villavicencio festival has the characteristic ingredients of the region's summer festivals such as soccer and beach volleyball tournaments and concerts with special guests of national and international stature.
The natural wells of the Guatiquía are a perfect space to enjoy the freshness of the river and the natural landscapes that surround it. Likewise, there are spaces reserved specifically for children, ensuring that fun is for all ages, as well as gastronomic fairs where you can try typical dishes from the eastern plains.
The Guatiquía River Summer Festival (Festival de Verano Río Guatiquia) not only celebrates the natural and cultural wealth of Illavicencio, but also promotes environmental care and preservation of the river, encouraging awareness about the importance of protecting the region's natural resources.
