In Puerto Rico, a town in Meta on the banks of the Guaviare River, about 200 kilometers from Villavicencio, the Ecotourism Event "La Tonina de Oro" is held in January. This event, which features all the traditional elements of summer festivals in the eastern plains, is named after the local term for the Amazon pink dolphin.

The beaches and waters of the Ariari River are the main stage of the festival, where various sports and recreational activities take place, including soccer and volleyball tournaments, the traditional regatta, and "atarraya" contests, where local fishermen showcase their skill with the region's typical fishing net.

There are also bull tailing competitions, a traditional sport of the Colombian and Venezuelan plains. On the cultural side, the festival offers local music and dance performances, with "joropo" as the main attraction, as well as dance and singing contests that highlight the region's folkloric tradition.

Food and agro-industrial fairs are also held, allowing attendees to taste typical local dishes and purchase local products such as cassava, pineapple, and cocoa.

The Ecotourism Event "La Tonina de Oro" is a celebration that emphasizes the balance between responsible tourism, culture, sports, and environmental protection, strengthening the sense of belonging to the Puerto Rico, Meta region.
