In November the municipality of Mesetas in the west of the department of Meta, about 130 kilometers from Villavicencio, celebrates its La Meseta de Oro Folkloric and Tourist Festival (Festival Folclórico y Turístico La Meseta de Oro), one of the most significant events in the local festive calendar and a celebration of the typical culture of the eastern Colombian plains.
 
During the festival, various activities are carried out that revolve around "llanera" music such as the JoropoVía, a parade of traditional music and dance through the streets of the town in which men and women show their skill in this emblematic dance, characterized by their tap dancing. rapids and the elegant movement of the typical "llanero" dress. Popular music concerts are also held with prominent guest artists of national stature. 

In addition to music and dance, the La Meseta de Oro Festival includes horseback riding and bullfighting events, a traditional sport of the Colombian plains, as well as gastronomic samples with native dishes of the region, such as carne a la llanera.
 
This festival not only celebrates the local identity, but also promotes tourism in Mesetas, highlighting the natural and cultural beauty of the Colombian plains.
