In July, Santa Marta celebrates its Sea Festival (Fiestas Del Mar), a highly anticipated event in the festive calendar of the Magdalena capital, featuring a diverse program of activities.

The festival includes a variety of sports, cultural, and recreational activities that attract both locals and tourists.

Among the main events are sports games and nautical activities, with competitors from different countries participating in disciplines such as sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and diving, as well as beach sports like beach volleyball and beach soccer, showcasing their skills against the majestic backdrop of the Caribbean Sea and iconic beaches like Playa Blanca and Rodadero.

Another important event is the National Sea Beauty Pageant (Reinado Nacional del Mar), where the candidates, in addition to representing the beauty of women from Santa Marta and other regions, must demonstrate aquatic skills and knowledge about marine conservation. Folkloric parades also take place, celebrating the region's rich cultural heritage, history, and traditions.

The Sea Festival also includes concerts featuring renowned artists, parades, dance troupes, and food fairs, where the typical flavors of the Colombian Caribbean are showcased.

This festival not only celebrates the natural beauty of Santa Marta but also promotes tourism and strengthens the sense of identity and belonging among its residents, solidifying itself as a valuable cultural tradition.
