About 7 kilometers south of the municipal seat of Garzón is the town center of La Jagua, founded in 1540, which makes it the oldest town center in Colombia. 

There every year, at the beginning of November, the Witch Festival (Festival de Brujas de la Jagua) takes place, a festival that refers to the town's reputation for being home to sorceresses, fortune tellers and witches like the one who was burned alive in the town square more ago. a century according to local legend.
 
During the festival, performances, puppet shows for children, storytelling meetings and religious celebrations take place. Theatrical performances are one of the central events of the festival. 

Local amateur actors recreate local legends and recreate the ancient arts of witches and fortune tellers such as chocolate cup reading, herbal healing or palm reading. 

The festival not only focuses on the esoteric, but also offers cultural activities such as traditional Huila music, folk dance samples, and craft exhibitions.
