In September, the municipality of Villeta receives delegations from all corners of Cundinamarca who come to participate in the Departmental Festival of Municipal Musical Bands (Festival Departamental de Bandas Sinfónicas), an event with more than 40 years of tradition that has become the main reference of the category in the department.
Annually, more than 100 groups from towns such as Chía, Cajicá, Facatativá, Mosquera and Tenjo meet in Villeta to show the educational processes carried out in the children's and youth bands of the municipalities.
The repertoire of the competition includes traditional Colombian music, mainly Andean music, as well as choral and symphonic works from the Central European musical tradition.
The festival is not only a competition, but also a platform for cultural exchange and the promotion of music education in the municipalities.
This event strengthens the cultural identity of Cundinamarca and turns Villeta into a meeting point for music and the community, attracting both tourists and fans.
