In June in Puerto Escondido, a municipality of Córdoba located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, the National Festival of "Bullerengue" is celebrated, one of the main festivals dedicated to this musical rhythm typical of the Colombian Caribbean along with those held in Necoclí and Maria la Baja.

During the festival, bullerengue groups from different parts of the country come together to compete and show their talent in various categories, such as seated bullerengue, chalupa and fandango.

The performances are full of energy and passion, with women dressed in colorful dresses who dance to the rhythm of drums and songs, while men accompany with firm and expressive steps.

The festival is not only a competition, but also a space for meeting and learning. Workshops, talks and exhibitions are held that allow attendees to learn more about the history and evolution of bullerengue. Tributes are also made recognizing the work of those who have worked to preserve this tradition.

Within the framework of the festival, the National Pageant of Bullerengue is also held with candidates from different departments.

The National Bullerengue Festival (Festival del Bullerengue) in Puerto Escondido is a vibrant manifestation of Afro-Colombian culture, which promotes the preservation of this genre and strengthens the sense of identity and belonging among its participants and spectators.
