At the beginning of October, the municipality of La Paz, just 12 kilometers from Valledupar, celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, whose festival is commemorated on the 4th of the month according to the Catholic holiday calendar.
The main festival is celebrated with the solemn Eucharist followed by a massive procession through the streets of the town with the image of this Italian saint.
The celebration ends with a fireworks show in the San Francisco de Asís Park. In addition to religious celebrations, during the week of the festivities, sporting, cultural and recreational events are held such as soccer matches, horseback races, gastronomic and business fairs, dance and typical costume displays, and live performances with guest artists. , with vallenato as the main protagonist.
The National Marching Band Competition is also held with the participation of groups from various departments.
The Patron Saint Festivities of San Francisco de Asís in La Paz not only strengthen the faith of its inhabitants, but are also an opportunity to celebrate the culture and traditions of the municipality, attracting visitors and promoting coexistence and joy in the community.
