Each year, La Jagua de Ibirico comes alive to celebrate its traditional Agricultural and Mining Folklore Festival and Patron Saint Festivities of Saint Michael the Archangel (Festival Folclórico Agrícola y Minero y Fiestas Patronales en honor a San Miguel Arcángel), a celebration with over 40 years of history that aims to highlight various elements of jagüera culture.
With parades and contests of floats and troupes, the town’s residents honor their history, customs, and biodiversity. The hard work and determination of artisans and farmers are showcased in artisan, gastronomic, and entrepreneurial fairs.
These spaces are perfect for acquiring the famous figures made from coal, a unique craft representative of "jagüero" artisans.
Live music, with vallenato as the main feature, energizes the community and enhances the festive atmosphere.
The festival also hosts the Departmental Tourism, Mining, and Cultural Pageant, with contestants from various municipalities in Cesar competing for the chance to represent their department in the National Tourism Pageant held in Girardot, Cundinamarca.
The Agricultural and Mining Folklore Festival is a proud expression of La Jagua de Ibirico’s residents' love for their culture and heritage, strengthening community bonds and promoting the economic and cultural development of the region.
