In September, the municipality of Caloto celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Niña María, whose image has accompanied the people of Caloto since the 16th century and who was crowned patron saint of the municipality on September 8, 1954, on the Nativity of Caloto festival. the Virgin.

From the end of August, the town's inhabitants begin to prepare for the festival with dawn, dawn rosaries and the novena in honor of the Girl Mary, which is prayed from August 29 to September 6. 

On the 7th, Vespers is celebrated and on the 8th, the Nativity of Mary is celebrated with a great procession with the image of the Girl Mary followed by the field Eucharist presided over by the archbishop of the diocese of Popayán.

In addition to religious events, during the holiday weekend, cultural exhibitions, entrepreneurship and gastronomic fairs are held where you can taste typical dishes such as sancocho de gallina, chicha de cane and wrapped ones.

The Patron Saint Festivities of the Niña María in Caloto are an occasion to celebrate the faith, culture and traditions of the municipality, attracting visitors and generating an atmosphere of joy and unity among its inhabitants.
