At the beginning of the year, the Carnival of Blacks and Whites (Carnaval de Blancos y Negros de Cajibío) is celebrated in Cajibío, a municipality of Cauca located about 45 kilometers from Popayán, a traditional festival of several towns in southwestern Colombia, best known for its original version that takes place in Pasto.

The main event of the Cajibío Carnival is the parade of floats, troupes and "taitapuros", a space where the Cajibian community gives free rein to all its creativity with colorful costumes and floats that pay tribute to local fauna, history, myths and traditions.

During the carnival, sporting events such as cycle rides and soccer tournaments are also held, as well as gastronomic fairs with the characteristic dishes and products of the region. There are also concerts with special guests and popular festivals for the entertainment of the entire community.

The Cajibío Black and White Carnival is a space for cultural enjoyment and expression, promoting diversity and mutual respect. Residents and visitors enjoy a festive atmosphere full of joy and solidarity, where community ties are strengthened and the cultural identity of the municipality is celebrated.
