In Chámeza, a municipality in the Casanareño plain foothills located about 100 kilometers from the departmental capital Yopal, the Turkey Festival is celebrated every March, one of the main events in the town's festive calendar.

The festival has a varied program that pays tribute to local traditions and culture with activities such as livestock and agricultural fairs, in which the typical competitions for dairy cow, heaviest bull and cow, best breeding bull, and heaviest turkey are held. big and best turkey in disguise. 

Bullfighting afternoons, horseback riding and bullfighting shows are also organized, traditional activities of the eastern Colombian plains.
