In mid-August of each year, the municipality of San Luis de Palenque in Casanare hosts the "El Gaván de Oro International Festival", within the framework of the municipality's fairs and festivals that take place on the anniversary of its foundation, on August 15. August 1953. 

The festival takes its name from the “gaván”, a local name given to the plains stork, a representative bird of the region.

For three days, San Luis residents celebrate the "Llanera" musical tradition with performances by renowned Llanera music artists, dance competitions and the coronation of the Queen of Joropo. 

In addition, other typical activities such as horseback riding and cockfighting challenges are carried out. 

As it is held within the framework of the town's fairs and festivals, festival attendees can enjoy local flavors thanks to the Merca Palenque Fair held simultaneously, in which farmers from this area of ​​Caquetá exhibit their products.
