In the middle of the year, the municipality of Villamaría, very close to Manizales from which it is separated by the Chinchiná River, celebrates the Horticulture Fair with which the town's inhabitants pay tribute to their agricultural tradition.

The peasant culture of the region is celebrated with arriería inns, peasant markets for local producers to display and sell their products, tejo tournaments and the traditional mountain sancocho.

During the weekend, sporting events such as micro-soccer and volleyball lightning championships, troupe parades, concerts with special guests and cultural exhibitions are also held.

Another of the main events of the festival is the pageant in which candidates from several municipalities of Caldas compete for the crown of Departmental Queen of Horticulture.

These fairs not only unite the community and strengthen the local economy, but also contribute to the preservation of Villamaría's agricultural traditions, highlighting the importance of agriculture in the life of the community.
