The small municipality of Tibasosa in Boyacá, just an hour from Tunja and very close to Sogamoso, is famous for being one of the main producers of feijoa nationwide, as well as for its sweets and products derived from this fruit. Hence, every year the Feijoa Festival (Festival de la Feijoa) is celebrated in the town, normally at the end of June on the weekend of the San Pedro Festival.

The central square of Tibasosa becomes a meeting point for the inhabitants of the municipality to enjoy traditional live music, dance events and an open-air gallery in which works of art that pay tribute to the feijoa are exhibited.

However, the protagonist of the festival is undoubtedly the gastronomic fair in which the main restaurants of Tibasosa come together to use the emblematic fruit of the municipality in a creative and innovative way.

These days you can taste dishes such as smoked breast stuffed with confit feijoa, lamb loin in feijoa pesto or grilled chicken in feijoa sauce. Likewise, in the main square you can find typical products such as the traditional feijoa merengón and sweets and jams made from this fruit.

The Feijoa Festival (Festival de la Feijoa) not only highlights the value of this fruit, but also promotes tourism and the local economy, consolidating Tibasosa as an important tourist and gastronomic destination in Boyacá.
