At the beginning of October, the municipality of Turmequé, about 45 kilometers from Tunja, celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of the Rosary, whose festival is commemorated on October 7 according to the Catholic liturgical calendar. 

Within the framework of these festivities, the Turmequé and Peasant Culture Festival is also held.
 
The main religious events of the weekend are the Vespers of the Virgin of the Rosary, after which a fireworks show takes place in the town's main square, and the solemn Eucharist on Sunday in honor of the municipality's patron saint. . 

In addition to this, during these days a peasant market is set up in the main park that extends throughout the weekend in which local farmers have the opportunity to sell locally grown products such as potatoes, beans, corn or onions. 

Likewise, shuffleboard tournaments are held, a sport that originated in this municipality declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2019, popular festivals that liven up the nights, peasant music contests and parades and cultural displays that highlight the identity of the region.
 
Attendees can also enjoy a gastronomic fair that offers typical dishes of the region, reflecting the rich peasant cuisine. Festivities in Turmequé not only celebrate religious devotion, but also strengthen the sense of community and promote local cultural identity.
