On July 20, the national holiday of the Cry of Independence, the International Week of Bolivarian Culture and Brother Countries (SemanaInternacional de la Cultura Bolivariana y de los Países Hermanos) opens, an event that has been held for more than four decades in Duitama, which serves to strengthen historical and cultural ties inspired by the legacy of Simón Bolívar among the countries of the region, mainly the so-called Bolivarian Republics (Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru).

During this week, Duitama becomes a meeting point for artists, academics and representatives from various countries, including special guests, an honor that in the last edition of the event went to Uruguay and Palestine.

Participants lead a series of cultural activities such as art exhibitions, traditional music and dance performances, and film screenings that reflect the cultural diversity of the sister countries.

These events allow visitors to experience and appreciate the rich traditions and customs of the region.

In addition to artistic manifestations, the International Week includes conferences and panel discussions on topics of common interest, such as shared history and contemporary challenges. These activities foster an enriching dialogue between participants and the public.

The International Week of Bolivarian Culture in Duitama (SemanaInternacional de la Cultura Bolivariana y de los Países Hermanos) celebrates not only cultural heritage, but also reinforces the sense of unity and collaboration between Latin American peoples.
