At the end of June, since its first edition in 2011, the Villa de Leyva International Jazz Festival (Festival Internacional de Jazz de Villa de Leyva) is held, one of the most important festivals of this genre in the country.
During the festival, the Plaza Mayor and other emblematic spaces of the town such as the Cloister San Francisco become stages for a series of concerts and presentations that highlight both national and international artists.
The repertoire covers various styles of jazz, from classical and swing to contemporary jazz and fusion, offering a rich and varied musical experience. Likewise, the agenda includes classes and talks aimed at musicians and fans, about jazz, its history and its trends and projection for the future.
These educational activities encourage the development of local talent and promote jazz as an accessible and appreciated art form.
The Villa de Leyva Jazz Festival (Festival Internacional de Jazz de Villa de Leyva) not only celebrates this musical genre, but also promotes tourism and strengthens the cultural identity of the municipality, consolidating itself as an unmissable event in the cultural calendar of the region.
