In mid-March, the municipality of Cravo Norte, located at the confluence of the river of the same name with the Casanare River, celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of Saint Joseph, whose feast is observed on the 19th of the month.
The festivities begin with a musical dawn on Thursday and continue throughout the weekend with cultural and recreational activities characteristic of Colombia’s eastern plains, such as bull coleo, horseback rides, cockfighting, rope competitions, and horseback skill trials.
"llanera" music also takes center stage, with singing contests and live performances by local and regional artists. The fair includes a pageant with contestants from various municipalities in Arauca, who showcase not only their beauty but also their knowledge of local culture and skill in dancing joropo.
The patron saint festivities of Saint Joseph in Cravo Norte strengthen the town’s sense of identity and tradition, celebrating both religious devotion and llanero customs.
