In June, the municipality of Tame in Arauca hosts the Band Gathering of Martial and Rhythmic Music (Encuentro Nacional de Bandas Rítmicas Marciales), an event with over 25 years of tradition that has become one of the most significant gatherings of its kind in the region.
The event pays tribute to the town's martial heritage, earning Tame the title "Cradle of Liberty," which dates back to the liberation campaign when Simón Bolívar and Francisco de Paula Santander first met there, and the Colombian National Army was founded.
The gathering brings together more than 30 martial and school bands, mainly from the departments of Arauca, Casanare, and Boyacá, who parade through the town’s streets.
In its 2024 edition, the event had the distinguished presence of the Band of the Presidential Guard Battalion, reinforcing the historical connection between Tame and the National Army.
The Band Gathering of Martial and Rhythmic Music in Tame (Encuentro Nacional de Bandas Rítmicas Marciales) not only highlights the musical talent of the participants but also strengthens the region's sense of identity and cultural pride, promoting values like discipline, coexistence, and respect.
