On July 25 in Arauquita, "Llanero" Day (Día del Llanero) is celebrated, a departmental festival that pays tribute to the culture of the eastern Colombian plains.
 
The day begins at dawn with the dawn of the plains, during which “guayoyo” coffee is shared (which in other regions of the country is known as “tinto”) and the sacrifice, grooming and depressing of the pig is carried out, which later It is prepared fried. 

Throughout the day, joopera parades are held through the main streets of Arauquita, with music and dance that celebrate the llanera culture. 

There are also food stalls where you can taste the typical dishes of the region such as the aforementioned fried pork, arepas, roast meats or hallacas, characteristics of Arauca and Venezuela. 

The day ends with the traditional parrando llanero, a party in which Arauquiteños dance and enjoy the rhythm of the joropo until the early hours of the morning.
