Every September the Book and Culture Festival (Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura) is celebrated in Medellín, one of the most important cultural events in the capital of Antioquia that brings together thousands of authors, editors and reading lovers every year.
The varied programming takes place in settings such as the Botanical Garden, Parque Explora and Parque de los Deseos, and includes talks, conferences and book presentations with prominent authors, giving attendees the opportunity to explore new literary horizons.
Likewise, each year a country is chosen as the guest of honor, celebrating its literature, cinema and culture.
In recent editions, the invited countries have been France and Portugal. Writing, illustration and storytelling workshops are also held, aimed at audiences of all ages, promoting creativity and a love of reading.
In addition, the Book and Culture Festiva (Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura)l incorporates music, theater and film shows, as well as art exhibitions that complement the cultural offering of the event. Spaces dedicated to children's and youth literature ensure that the little ones also enjoy and get involved in the world of books.
The Book and Culture Festival (Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura) in Medellín not only promotes reading and education, but also strengthens the cultural identity of the city, encourages dialogue and the exchange of ideas, and consolidates Medellín as a cultural reference in the region.
