In mid-August, the Kite Festival (Festival de Cine de Jardín ) is celebrated in Jericó, about 105 kilometers southwest of Medellín. The festival takes advantage of the characteristic winds of the season, filling the sky of Jericó with kites of all colors, shapes and sizes, creating an impressive visual spectacle.

The main event of the festival is, of course, kite flying, an activity that takes place at Morro El Salvador, a natural viewpoint from which you can see the entire town.

Contests are also held in which categories are awarded such as the smallest kite, the most creative, the one that reached the furthest and could be recovered or the largest kite.

Additionally, there are special categories for children, ensuring family participation and fun for all ages.
Kite-building workshops are a fundamental part of the festival, where experts teach techniques and share tips with attendees.

These workshops not only allow participants to create their own kites, but also preserve and transmit this artisanal tradition to new generations.

The event also has recreational and cultural activities, such as folk music and dance presentations, traditional games and gastronomic fairs that offer typical Antioquian dishes. These activities complement the festive and welcoming atmosphere of the festival.

The Jericó Kite Festival (Festival de Cine de Jardín ) not only celebrates the tradition of kite flying, but also strengthens community ties, promotes creativity and attracts tourists, establishing itself as an essential festival in the region's cultural calendar.
