About 95 kilometers west of Medellín is Caicedo, a town where every November, during the festive long weekend of the Independence of Cartagena, the Festivals of Fraternity and Reconciliation (Fiestas de La Fraternidad y La Reconciliación) are celebrated, with which tribute is paid to the peasant tradition and coffee maker of this municipality.
During the weekend, horseback riding, equine welfare days with veterinary services, blacksmithing and dressage workshops are organized, and the traditional peasant lunch on Sunday in which the community gathers around the same dish, prepared by several local restaurants.
Coffee is also the protagonist with tributes and recognitions to local coffee growers.
In addition to this, sports competitions are organized with basketball, soccer and volleyball tournaments and you can enjoy live music throughout the weekend with special guests of national stature.
The Festivals of Fraternity and Reconciliation (Fiestas de La Fraternidad y La Reconciliación) in Caicedo not only celebrate the cultural identity and agricultural vocation of the municipality, but also promote unity, peace and social development, consolidating itself as an essential and beloved tradition in the calendar of Antioquia.
