Carolina del Príncipe, known as the “Colonial Garden of America,” is a beautiful town with colonial architecture, founded in the late 18th century about 100 kilometers north of Medellín.

In addition to being known as the birthplace of the singer Juanes, the town is famous for the balconies that surround its main square, which take center stage during the Festival of Balconies (Festival de Los Balcones), celebrated annually in mid-October over the Columbus Day holiday weekend.

During the festival, the town's balconies are carefully decorated with gardens and natural flowers, competing for the prize for the best balcony.

Beyond this tribute to its historical heritage, the Festival of Balconies offers a wide range of cultural activities, including live music with special guests, float parades, artisanal and farmer’s markets, and the traditional "desenguayabe" and sancocho festival that concludes the celebration on the holiday Monday.

The Festival of Balconies in Carolina del Príncipe is a perfect opportunity to fall in love with one of Antioquia's hidden gems—a town whose beautiful balconies offer a journey back in time and a reminder of the architectural and natural richness of the department.
