In mid-August, on the festive long weekend of the festival of the Assumption of the Virgin, in Santa Fé de Antioquia the Tamarindo Festival (Fiesta del Tamarindo) is celebrated, with which the inhabitants of the municipality pay tribute to this characteristic fruit of the region.

During these festivals, pulperos take the opportunity to display and sell their products and publicize the process of making traditional tamarind preparations such as pulps, sweets, concentrates and candies. Likewise, conferences and forums are held on this crop and gastronomic fairs and competitions with dishes that use this product.

The parade of floats, decorated with motifs related to the tamarind and the history of Santa Fe de Antioquia, is another notable event. The comparsas and folk groups fill the streets with music and dance, showing the cultural wealth of the municipality.

The Tamarindo Festivals also include sports activities, such as athletic races and micro-soccer championships. In addition, throughout the weekend you can enjoy live outdoor music and cultural and dance displays that highlight the traditions of this region of Antioquia.
