Between the end of June and the beginning of July, Amalfi celebrates its Festival of Peace and Progress (Fiestas de La Paz y El Progreso ), the main event in the festive calendar of this municipality in the northeast of Antioquia. The festivals include gastronomic and craft fairs with local products, where you can try the typical food of the region such as tripe, beans and all kinds of sweets derived from panela.

A folklore parade of comparsas is also held in which tribute is paid to the culture of the municipality.
In the parade, references to the emblematic “Amalfi Tiger” stand out, a jaguar that terrorized local ranchers and was hunted in 1949, a story that has become a legend of the municipality.

During the festivities you can also enjoy live music with national and international guests such as Los Corraleros de Majagual, Jorge Celedón and Nelson Velásquez, and sporting events with soccer championships.

The Festivals of Peace and Progress (Fiestas de La Paz y El Progreso ) are a manifestation of the pride and resilience of the inhabitants of Amalfi, a municipality that seeks to look to the future, leaving behind the violence experienced in the context of the armed conflict, consolidating itself as an essential tradition in the cultural calendar. from Antioch
