In the municipality of Miraflores, the south of the department of Guaviare on the eastern bank of the Vaupés River, the Solidarity and Dabucury Festival (Festival de la Solidaridad y el Dabucury) has been celebrated since its consolidation in 1999, which takes its name from one of the central rituals of the indigenous peoples. who live in the region.
The very origin of the festival lies in the need to recover and safeguard the traditions of the native peoples of Guaviare, whose culture and integrity have been strongly affected by deforestation, industrialization and new technologies.
The essence of Dabucury is sharing and exchange between communities, which is why the gastronomic and craft exhibitions in which the region's producers exhibit preparations such as fariña, moquiado fish, quiñapira and chibe and all kinds of crafts woven.
During the festival, cultural exhibitions with native music and dances are also held, as well as troupe parades in which tribute is paid to the local culture and the biodiversity of the region.
This event, which attracts both locals and tourists, is a space to strengthen cultural identity, encourage respect for ancestral practices and value the natural and spiritual wealth of the Amazon.
