In mid-July, the young municipality of Litoral del San Juan, established in 1993 after its segregation from Istmina, celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of Carmen.

To the rhythm of shawm and bunde, the people of the coast take to the streets of the town with colorful parades.

Each day of the festivities, the organization of the parades and celebrations is in charge of one of the neighborhoods of the municipality, stimulating the active participation of all inhabitants in a party full of joy and music.

The coastal people wear colorful costumes and costumes that highlight the region's own culture and its biodiversity. During the festivities, a pageant is also held that includes a canoe parade along the San Juan River, led by the candidates.

These festivals are not only a display of religious devotion, but also a reflection of the cultural identity and sense of community on the Bajo San Juan Coast, where faith and traditions are intertwined in a celebration full of meaning and joy.
