In August, the municipality of Tame celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Assumption of Mary, a festivity (Fiestas Patronales Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) observed on the 15th of the month according to the Catholic liturgical calendar. The celebration includes a variety of religious, cultural, and recreational events.

On the day of the festivity, a solemn Mass is held, followed by a procession with the image of the Virgin Mary. This procession concludes in the town’s main square, where a serenade is held in honor of the Mother of Christ.

Additionally, throughout the weekend, activities typical of the Eastern Plains festivals take place, such as bull riding tournaments, llanero music contests, "amanecer llanero" (dawn celebrations with music and dancing), and cultural displays.

As part of the festivities, the International Queen Pageant ( Reinado Internacional del Llano) is also held, featuring contestants from various municipalities in Arauca and other departments of Colombia, as well as states from Venezuela.

The celebration also includes llanero music concerts, popular dances, and artisanal and gastronomic fairs where attendees can enjoy traditional dishes and local products. These festivities offer an opportunity for residents and tourists alike to celebrate both spirituality and the rich cultural heritage of the Eastern Plains, promoting unity and pride within the Tame community.
