Since 1969, the National Tourism Beauty Pageant (Reinado Nacional del Turismo) has been held in October in Girardot to celebrate the city's founding anniversary. This is one of the most important beauty pageants in the country, bringing together representatives from various regions and promoting tourism in Colombia.

During the pageant, the contestants compete in different categories, including the presentation of traditional costumes, swimsuit and evening gown parades, as well as interviews where they showcase their knowledge of Colombian culture and the country’s potential as a tourist destination.

The pageant provides an opportunity for participants to highlight the cultural diversity, natural beauty, and tourist attractions of their regions, fostering interest in exploring and visiting Colombia.

In addition to the contestants' competitions, the event includes food fairs, dance showcases, horseback parades, float processions, and concerts featuring renowned international artists, transforming Girardot into a hub of entertainment and celebration for several days.

The National Tourism Beauty Pageant (Reinado Nacional del Turismo) not only celebrates beauty and tourism but also boosts the local economy and promotes Girardot as a destination for leisure and recreation for both national and international tourists.
