Since 1995, the "Mangostino de Oro" Festival (Festival Nacional de Música Mangostino De Oro) has been held in Mariquita, a festival that seeks to celebrate the musical heritage of the Colombian Andean region, as well as rhythms from other regions of the country and Latin America, and which has become consolidated as one of the festivals of Colombia's most important music.

Live performances are the heart of the festival, with concerts held at various stages in the municipality. During the festival, musical performance contests are held in various categories, including duets, trios, and soloists.

The participating artists cover a huge variety of rhythms typical of the Andean region such as bambucos, pasillos, guabinas, contradanzas, torbellinos, cañas, bundes, waltzes, southern sones, rumbas and carranguero merengues. In addition, the festival includes the National Unpublished Song Contest, which rewards the creativity and talent of composers.

The event also offers a varied cultural program that includes workshops, conferences and craft exhibitions, providing a space for cultural exchange and learning.

The "Mangostino de Oro" is an unmissable event for music and culture lovers, also helping to promote the cultural wealth of Mariquita and Tolima. By attracting visitors and participants from different regions, the festival revitalizes the local economy and contributes to the tourism development of the region.
