Since 1990, the National Festival of the Colombian "Pasillo" has been held in the municipality of Aguadas, which pays tribute to this traditional music of the Colombian Andes, which combines the Austrian waltz with the native airs of the region.
The festival was born as a tribute to the Hernández brothers (Héctor, Gonzalo and Francisco), a trio of "Aguadeños" musicians who achieved international recognition during the first half of the 20th century.
During the festival, Aguadas is filled with typical melodies and dances of the Colombian region. Performance and composition competitions are one of the focal points of the event, where musicians compete to demonstrate their skill and creativity, performing both classical pieces and original compositions.
These contests not only promote local talent, but also allow the dissemination and preservation of this musical genre. In the same way, other variants of this are recognized, with samples of the San Andres island "Pasillo" and the Chocoano "Pasillo".
Another attraction of the festival is the gastronomic offer, which allows visitors to enjoy the typical cuisine of Caldas, complementing the cultural experience with authentic flavors of the region.
This Festival not only celebrates music and dance, but also strengthens cultural identity and promotes tourism in the region, becoming an unmissable event for lovers of Colombian folklore.
