In August, the Word Meeting (Encuentro de la Palabra) is held in Riosucio, one of the most important cultural events in the department of Caldas, which with four decades of tradition has become an integral element of the region's cultural calendar.
The "Encuentro de la Palabra", born in 1983 in Aguadas as an effort to decentralize cultural manifestations, monopolized by the intellectuals residing in Manizales, has a very varied program that includes artistic and craft exhibitions, theater, concerts, storytelling and poetry meetings.
In addition to these activities, conversations and workshops on different topics such as creative writing, poetic creation, music and children's literature are held during the festival.
This event not only promotes literary creation and the exchange of ideas, but also seeks to strengthen the cultural identity of Riosucio, a municipality recognized for its famous Carnival.
