At the beginning of November, the Colonies Meeting (Encuentro de Colonias) takes place in San Francisco, a municipality in eastern Antioquia about 95 kilometers from Medellín, an event full of a family atmosphere in which San Franciscans residing in other cities in the country return to their hometown to reconnect with their families and friends.
Futsal is the main protagonist of the Colonies Meeting (Encuentro de Colonias). For three days, representative teams from the San Francisco colonies in Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali or Barranquilla, as well as teams from local companies and nearby municipalities, face each other in a tournament.
The Colonitas tournament is also held in the children's category, both men and women.
At night there is live music during the games, livening up the atmosphere and turning the Colonies Meeting into a real party. At the end of the tournament, cash prizes are distributed to the winner, runner-up, top scorer and least beaten fence.
The San Francisco Colony Meeting is a perfect occasion for San Franciscans to reconnect with their people and their land, in an atmosphere of healthy competition, celebration and joy that ensures entertainment for locals and strangers.
